Ranking Riordan

Updated: Sep 7, 2020

So, in this post, I'm going to be ranking the different Riordanverse books from worst to best. I'll go series by series, with a quick reason for my ranking.

Percy Jackson And The Olympains

5) Sea Of Monsters. - I don't know why, but I've just never liked SoM. It was great, but if I had to pick a least favourite, that would be it.

4) Battle of the Labyrinth - It had good parts, but it felt like most of the book was Nico getting to grips with Bianca's death, Annabeth and Rachel being set up in a love triangle, Kronos coming back, and finishing Grover's arc. I liked it, but the storyline felt forced, and most of the book was tying up loose ends ready for the finale.

3) The Lightning Theif - The book that started me on a long adventure... I've always loved the Lightning Theif. It introduced me to this world and these people that I fell in love with instantly.

2) The Titan's Curse - Baby Nico, Percabeth, Rachel, dam, HUNTERS!, Zoe, what isn't there to love? The Hunters are my favourite part. Group of ace/aro girls supporting each other and basically being sisters? Hades yeah!

1) The Last Olympian - I could go on all day, but here's the short version: Awesome final battle, Luke's redemption, Rachel's the oracle AND PERCABETH!

Heroes of Olympus.

5) Blood Of Olympus - CAUTION: RANT AHEAD What the everloving Hades was this book? Hey, let's spend the whole series travelling across the world to prevent the rise of Gaia. THEN WE'LL GET SLAPPED BACK AND DEFEAT HER IN LIKE A PAGE AND NO ONE DIES?! AND OH, PEOPLE WON'T LIKE IT IF I KILL LEO OR LEAVE HIM SINGLE, SO LETS RANDOMLY BRING A WAY TO STOP PEOPLE DIEING INTO THE SERIES AND BRING HIM BACK TO LIFE!

4) The Lost Hero - It's just the characters. I never really felt close to them like Grover, Annabeth and Percy. No matter what Rick does, he'll never beat them. Not to me anyway.

3) House Of Hades - A lot of people are going to disagree with me here, but there was too much Percy and Annabeth. I would have liked to have more Hazel and Frank since this book completes their arc. Or even better, separate it into two books. Write about Percy and Annabeth in Tartarus, stopping once they reach the doors of death, then write about the others reaching the House Of Hades in a separate book, finishing the story.

2) Mark Of Athena - Seeing the seven meet each other and the friendships and the minor rivalries were amazing. That's why it's being put here.

1) Son of Neptune - As close to the original trio as Rick could get, two of my favourite characters, Percy's back, meeting the Romans, just... All of it. I love it.

Trials Of Apollo

4) The Hidden Oracle - It just never really clicked with me. If you haven't read past this book, I highly recommend you do because the rest of this series is amazing.

3) The Burning Maze - I loved it, but a lot of it could have been so much better.

2) The Dark Prophecy - Absolute perfection. Lesbian couple? Caleo? Hunters? Um, yes, please.

1) Tyrants Tomb - I could go on all day. I loved this book soooooo much. Romans, Jason death reactions, OTP content, Lavinia... Wow. Also, Reyna is confirmed to be Cupioromantic, which is amazing, and joins the Hunters, which is amazing, and realises she needs some time to discover herself, which is amazing.

Magnus Chase And The Gits Of Asgard.

3) Hammer Of Thor - Loads of people love this book, but I don't like it much. Again, I don't know why.

2) Sword Of Summer - Loads of people hate this book, but I love it. It's an amazing introduction to the series and it's filled with backstories and the beginnings of character arcs.

1) Sword Of Summer - I loved the final battle with Loki, and the fact the other people on floor 19 get more credit. Plus they go to England an eat fish and chips and Alex gets addicted to Tizer, which is iconic.

Kane Chronicles

3) The Throne Of Fire - Amazing, but I loved the other two more.

2) The Red Pyramid - Again, an amazing introduction to the characters, world, and story.

1) The Serpent' Shadow - Let's just face it: I'm a sucker for finales.

Thanks for reading guys.
